Neuromas

A neuroma, also referred to as Morton’s Neuroma, is an enlarged, benign growth of nerves, most commonly between the third and fourth toes.

Causes of Neuromas

Events that can cause Neuromas may include:

  • Tissue rubbing against and irritating the nerves.
  • Pressure from poorly fitting shoes.
  • Abnormal bone structure.

Symptoms of Neuromas

Burning pain
Pain may radiate from the ball of the foot to the toes
Numbness in the toes

Treatment Options

Swapping Footwear

Wearing roomier, lower-heeled footwear.

Wearing Orthotics

Orthotics to reduce the pressure on the nerve.

Steroids

Injections of corticosteroid medication to reduce swelling and inflammation.
