About 36 million falls are reported among older adults each year, resulting in more than 32,000 deaths. According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately one out of every five falls causes an injury such as broken bones or a head injury, and about 3 million older adults are treated in emergency departments for injuries sustained in a fall. Keeping your feet healthy can improve your balance, coordination, and stability and reduce risks of dangerous and deadly falls. Since September is National Fall Prevention Month, we wanted to pass along some important information from The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons on how you can lower your risk of falls.
